F.A.Q.

I have included some information to help answer many common questions about our sessions.  If you have further questions, please feel free to call me or email me bmcmillan2@aol.com if it is not answered below.

What is your style of photography?

I like to capture natural images. I love catching the moment.  I am creating a work of art for you and your family to treasure for years to come. I love capturing the personalities, attitudes, and the emotion between relationships.

When should I book a session with you?

For our High School seniors we start booking a year in advance. Our schedule fills up fast so if you have an upcoming senior we close out the year in April and start booking new seniors for the following year by May 1st. Fill out the contact page as soon as you know you want to book with Brenda McMillan Photography or to get more information. We take a limited number of seniors per year and we often have to turn away clients that waited too long to book.  Our schedule fills up quickly during the busy seasons (Fall and Spring). For newborn sessions it is best to book 7-10 days after the due date. We can always move your session around if need be. For maternity sessions, the best time to book is around 30-32 weeks. Your belly will look good at that point, but you shouldn’t be that uncomfortable. 

 What should I wear and what do I bring with me to the session?

For our High School Seniors, we will send you over a senior packet filled with all of the answers to your questions. For our families, we have a” what to wear” section that I suggest reading over before you come.  I am also happy to email you some files of what clients have worn in the past.   You really just need to bring yourself to the session.  We are going to be focused on capturing you and your personality. Feel free to bring any items you may want to add in to your child's photo, a blanket, special toy, etc. 

What do I do if the weather is bad?

We are always keeping an eye on the weather.  It may look bad but keep in mind as long as it is not thundering and pouring down rain, we can probably still do the session.  If mother nature does not cooperate and we are shooting on location we are happy to reschedule your session. We typically only reschedule if it is 50% chance of rain or higher and often times the weather man isn't as accurate as we like. 

Where is my session held?

Sessions are held at a variety of locations in Fort Bend County. We are happy to photograph wherever if you have a specific location in mind. If you want to travel into Houston or anywhere outside of Fort Bend there is a travel fee depending on the location. For our senior sessions, we have a list of locations we go to and often we are traveling to several locations depending on which session you select. 

How long will this take?

Most of the outdoor family session last approximately an hour. The times vary though according to the number of people in the session and the age of the children.  I will take my time to make sure you get wonderful works of art and that you are completely satisfied with your final images! Senior session are can last from an hour and a half to three hour works sessions. 

What payments do you accept?

Cash, Check, Visa, and Mastercard.  We can also set up a payment plan if you prefer.

How and when do I get to see my photos?

Photos are usually ready for viewing two weeks after a session. I prefer to meet with my clients face to face so we can go over everything. It just makes it easier on everyone. So, we usually meet 2 weeks or so after the session to go over the proofs and finalize the orders.  After the proofing meeting, your photos are uploaded to an online album for 30 days where you can make additional purchases.  At the end of 30 days the photos are archived. There is a $50 archive retrieval fee if you choose to bring them back up to order. So, it is best to place your order at the initial proofing session.  Also if you purchase a digital file with images and happen to lose it. Don’t worry we can replace is for a small fee. 

How long will it take to get my order once it is placed?

Your order will be completed 3-4 weeks after we receive your payment.  I will notify you as soon as it is ready. If for some reason you need things sooner, please let us know this at your session time or in your initial phone call.  Depending on our vendors there may be a small rush delivery fee.

What if I have to reschedule or my session?

We understand that unexpected circumstances may come up especially with kids. Please try to let us know as soon as possible, if you need to reschedule. Please note deposits will not be refunded if you are cancelling (within 24-48 hours). They may be applied to a rescheduled date. If your child took an unexpected fall and has a small bump or bruise we can retouch it at no additional charge. However, if your child gets a black eye or a huge lump from running into the wall, it is probably best to reschedule for when they have healed. Your deposit is good as long as you reschedule within 6 months. Also, if you are needing to reschedule during the peak season, please note we are booked over two months out, so you may not be able to get a weekend spot.
